Asking for help

Post a need for yourself or for someone else in the community. The board shows the need, the category, and how soon. It never shows your name. Coordinators can see who posted so they can follow up with care.

Asking never costs Mohawk Money. Ever.

Helping

Reply to a need with what you can do. Only the poster and coordinators see replies. If the poster accepts, the care inbox (care@mohawkmoney.com) sends both of you an introduction. When the help happens, the poster confirms it and you earn 10 MM per hour.

Offers

List something you'd happily do for another member: a headshot session, an hour of yard work, a meal. Set a price in Mohawk Money (we suggest 10 MM per hour). Members can request it, and the Mohawk Money moves to you when it's done.

Mohawk Money

• Every member starts with 20 MM.
• An hour of help on a need earns 10 MM.
• A volunteer day earns 10 MM. A gathering like book club or movie night earns 2 MM.
• You can request an offer even when you're a little short, down to -20 MM. Nobody should have to earn before they can ask.
• It's not real money. You can't buy it and you can't cash it out. It's a way of saying thank you that you can pass on.

The care inbox

Every follow-up comes from care@mohawkmoney.com, not from a person. Real coordinators read replies, and about a week after a match you'll get a one-question check-in: did this go well?

Safety

This is a place for neighbors, not a service. Meet in public when you can, tell someone where you're going, and use your judgment. If a request suggests someone is in crisis, a coordinator is notified right away and resources are shared.
